Independent Living with Care and Support

Our vision is to enable older people and people affected by disabilities to exercise choice and control, to live independent lives, and to actively participate in society.

Why We Care

SIL understands that it can be hard to accept that we or our loved ones need support, so we want to make the experience as easy as it can be. We want you to have complete confidence in our services and feel safe and secure in your home and when out and about.

We regularly receive compliments from our service users or their family which highlight the outstanding care they receive from our staff.

“Since Services for Independent Living has taken over my husband’s care, I arrive home every day to find him with a smile on his face. I know he feels a great weight has been lifted from his shoulders and he now enjoys his supported days” – From a service user’s wife.

Not for Profit

SIL is a registered charity and a not-for-profit organisation. This means any surplus we make goes into improving our services and topping up our Charitable fund.

Personalised Service

You’ll never speak to an automated voice when you call us. We are real people, with real experience and our service users are at the heart of everything we do.

Experienced Care Teams

Voted Employer of Choice, all our staff are fully trained and each small team is led by a dedicated team leader, who has many years’ experience under their belt.

Independent Living at Home

We are passionate about supporting disabled and older people to live the life they choose in their own home and community.

Homecare Services

SIL’s Homecare service provides community care, enabling older people to stay independent and remain in their own homes.

Direct Payment Support

Sometimes people choose to be in control of their own care and if the local council has agreed to fund their support, they will be given a Direct Payment. This means they choose how to spend the payment and buy the support and activities that they want.

Direct payment support can also refer to money from the NHS, such as a personal health budget (PHB). We also support people who pay for support privately but don’t want to use an agency.

If you choose to manage your own care, we are able to help you with the day-to-day management and financial administration that it encompasses. We provide payroll, bookkeeping and pension administration services, as well as advice on personnel issues.

If you are in receipt of a direct payment or PHB, our costs will be met by the authority supporting you.
